What are the possible keys to rediscover classical texts for theater in post-dramatic times?
The overall objective of the research of Oxana Sankova is to discover her own methods to work with classical texts in the practice of the theater and the rehearsal space, methods that allow a combination of classical textual approaches with the method of autofiction (that was used by Oxana Sankova in her bachelor and master's performances as well as in some workshops during her studies at RITCS School of Arts). What methods can be developed, on the rehearsal floor or at the table in a collective setting for this textual material to work theatrically? What are the ways to find your own method as an artist? How should an artist reflect, process, and comprehend his own experience?
The sense of ‘being lost’ in front of texts of the ‘great authors’ excites Oxana Sankoa. Her artistic research question is thus how to return to these texts with her recently acquired knowledge of working with devised theater: how to confront these texts with her own autobiographical texts, the texts of the actors and the search for non-linear (plot) movement in the play. With this research project, Oxana Sankova wants to turn her face to this exciting duality.
